Tell us what happened

Something at a meetup went wrong, somebody was hurt, or somebody behaved in a way that should not happen in one of our groups. Tell us here.

One of the two people who run Meet40 reads every report. You can send this without giving your name.

In your own words. There is no wrong way to write this and it does not need to be tidy.

How would you describe it

A date, a place, or the link from your Meet40 email. Anything that helps us find the group.

Who you are

You can leave both of these blank. An anonymous report still gets read. We ask because without an email address there is no way for us to come back to you with a question, and a question is usually what a report needs.

Should we write back

Only possible if you left an email address above.

What happens next

A founder reads it. If you left an email address and asked us to write back, you hear from a person within 24 hours — an actual reply, not a ticket number.

If it happened in your group’s chat, you can report the message itself — tap the Report or block link under it. That reaches the same two people, by the same email alert, at the same speed as this form — and it brings the message with it, so we can read exactly what you mean and what was said around it. Use whichever is in front of you; neither one waits longer than the other.

If anyone is at risk we act before we finish looking into it, which means cancelling a booking and taking somebody out of the next meetup while we work out what happened. Every open report is reviewed before the next groups are built, so nobody is quietly grouped again while a report about them is sitting unopened.

The full process — who decides, what the person is told, whether they are refunded, and what we say to the rest of the group — is on the code of conduct page. It is written down so you can hold us to it.

What we do with your name

We never tell the person you reported that it was you. Not their name to you, not your name to them, not to the rest of the group. If describing what happened would identify you, we describe it more vaguely instead.

We will not group you with them again, whatever else we decide. That part does not depend on us agreeing with you.

Nothing happens to your membership for reporting something. Not for a report we end up disagreeing with, and not for reporting more than once.

An anonymous report still counts. It is read, written down, and weighed against anything else on file. The only thing we lose is the ability to come back with a question.

Other ways to reach us

If a form is not what you want, email support@meet40.com. It reaches the same two people and carries exactly the same weight.

There is no phone number, on the day or any other day. We do not publish one, there is not one in your booking confirmation, and nobody is on call. This form and that email address are the whole list, they reach the same two people, and a person replies within 24 hours.

Which means: if something is happening right now, we are not the ones to reach. An emergency is 911. Anything short of one and you can leave a meetup at any point without explaining yourself — your seat is paid for either way — and tell us here afterwards. We would rather you did that than stood somewhere uncomfortable waiting for us to answer.

This form is for what happened at a meetup — conduct, or an injury. For a refund, a cancellation or a booking problem, the Terms cover it and support@ is the faster route.
